Frequently Asked Questions

Ask your questionGetting started
Can I browse the marketplace without an account?
Yes. Browsing domain listings, the published business rules and the FAQ does not require an account. Creating a listing or requesting a purchase requires an account and the appropriate verification.
What does ccTLD.Name do?
ccTLD.Name lists country-code domain names for sale and facilitates introductions and transactions under the published seller agency and buyer terms. We do not operate a domain registry or automatically register new domains.
Are the sample domains real offers?
No. Any listing identified as DEMO or Sample is illustrative and cannot be purchased.
Selling domains
How do I list my domain?
Visit Sell Your Domains, create and verify your account, provide accurate registration and seller details, accept the seller agency terms, and complete the requested DNS verification. An administrator reviews the submission before publication.
Is domain listing free?
Standard domain listing is free. A 15% commission applies to a successfully completed domain sale, inclusive of VAT where applicable, subject to the Seller Agency Agreement. Paid advertising directory placements are separate services.
Can I sell a website or project with a domain?
Yes, if the listing clearly identifies which project assets, licences and rights are included. The seller must be authorised to transfer everything described. Domain-only and project-included listings are marked separately.
Can I invite offers instead of setting a price?
Yes. Leave the asking price blank when submitting a domain to invite enquiries. Visitors can contact ccTLD.Name with a proposal; submitting a proposal does not automatically conclude a sale.
Identity and domain checks
Why do you ask for DNS verification?
A unique DNS TXT record (or an eligible CNAME alternative) helps verify technical control of the domain. DNS control alone is not proof of legal ownership, so further documentary or identity checks may be required.
Do buyers and sellers need identity verification?
Yes, ccTLD.Name may require appropriate identity, company-authority and domain-rights checks before enabling a transaction or publication. Verification decisions can require additional evidence through an approved secure channel.
What is a registry-premium domain?
A registry-premium designation may affect initial registration or annual renewal cost. This is different from a seller asking a premium resale price. Check the registrar’s current renewal tariff.
Buying and enquiries
How do I purchase a listed domain?
Select a non-demo listing and use Buy if it has a fixed asking price, or Enquire to request details or submit an offer. Identity verification and acceptance of the relevant buyer terms may be required.
Are payments processed here?
Live payment processing is not currently activated. The marketplace records purchase requests but does not collect card details or accept live funds. Any future payment method will be displayed separately before payment.
When is a transfer complete?
The parties must follow their registrar’s transfer procedure, and ccTLD.Name will review the transfer evidence and applicable transaction conditions. Actual completion and settlement follow the signed terms and an approved payment arrangement.
What if there is a dispute?
Contact ccTLD.Name with the transaction reference, a clear description and supporting evidence. The published Complaints & Disputes document explains the procedure, subject to applicable legal rights.
Search, availability and WHOIS
Does Availability Check guarantee a domain can be registered?
No. Public RDAP data can indicate a recorded registration, but an inconclusive result does not prove a domain can be registered. Reserved, restricted and registry-premium registrations must be confirmed with a registrar.
Do I need an account for Availability Check?
Yes, actual availability checks are a free feature for registered users. The public information page explains the feature and offers a registration link.
What does WHOIS / RDAP show?
Only publicly available registration records, registrar and status data, dates and relevant DNS information. Redacted personal details are not available through ccTLD.Name.
Directories and advertising
How can registrars or hosting providers join the directories?
Use Advertise to submit a registrar or hosting provider application. Listings are reviewed by an administrator before publication. The optional priority-consideration charge does not guarantee acceptance.
Can I promote an offer or coupon?
Use the Promo Column application under Advertise. This is a paid advertising opportunity, and the displayed minimum insertion charge is set by the administrator. No application constitutes payment.
Accounts, privacy and terms
Can I correct my account details?
Sign in to review your profile. Some verified fields may require administrator assistance or additional evidence to amend.
Which rules govern a listing or sale?
Read the Terms of Business, Seller Agency Agreement, Buyer Terms, verification rules, disputes policy and other linked documents on the Rules page.
How is my personal data handled?
